2-Ply Silent Auction Bid Forms: A Solution PDF Print E-mail

This week I got this question via e-mail from a Michigan auctioneer (and provided the following solution):

Question:  Do you print (in-house) your own 2-part silent auction bid forms?  If so, how do you do it?

Reply:  Yes, I do, or I print them at Kinko's.   People think the paper is magic, that it is already sealed at the top, and so they don't understand how it gets printed.

Actually, NCR (non-carbon recordable/receipt) paper is sold in reams of 500, so 2-ply white/yellow has 250 sets and 3-ply white/yellow/pink has 167 sets.

It's all individual sheets, not connected, so they go through any copier just like normal paper.  For a 2-ply, just print the same thing on both the white and the yellow, then staple!

You DO have to experiment a few times to make sure which way to put the paper in.  There is a way to do it WRONG, where you can't write through to the underneath.  Just check every time you copy to make sure they are writing through.

The paper is about $20 per ream, and I buy it from Kinko's.  You can buy the ream direct, without having them copy anything, since that is possible but more expensive when they do it.  You can do it yourself either in the self-serve part of Kinko's or at home.

If you don't have a Kinko's, then look online for NCR paper.

Let me know if you have any other questions, fellow auctioneers!  Sharing the best info is the foundation of my business!
